EVERY YEAR 42 MILLION TONNES OF BREWERS SPENT GRAIN IS PRODUCED. BREWERS SPENT GRAIN IS A BYPRODUCT OF THE BEER BREWING PROCESS AND CANNOT BE PREVENTED, ONLY RECYCLED OR REUSED.
WE AIM TO REDUCE FOOD WASTE IN BEER PRODUCTION BY UPCYCLING BREWERS SPENT GRAIN INTO CONSUMER PRODUCTS.
BY UTILISING THIS BYPRODUCT AND REINTRODUCING IT INTO THE FOOD CHAIN WE AIM TO SAVE VALUBLE RESOURCES AND DEVELOP CONSUMER PRODUCTS THAT ARE GOOD FOR BOTH YOU AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
BY SUBSITUTING JUST 10% OF REGULAR FLOUR IN A LOAF OF BREAD WITH A FLOUR MADE FROM BREWERS SPENT GRAIN, A SAVING OF ROUGHLY 161 LITRES OF WATER/KG CAN BE ACHIEVED WHILE INCREASING THE FIBER CONTENT BY UP TO 70%.
BSG IS MADE UP OF PREDOMINANTLY MALT AND CONTAINS HIGH LEVELS OF FIBRE (50%) AND PROTEIN (15-25%).
FOR EVERY 10 LITRES OF BEER PRODUCED, 2KGS OF BSG IS GENERATED.
REPLACING JUST 10% OF REGULAR FLOUR CAN INCREASE FIBRE CONTENT BY AS MUCH AS 70%.

In industrialized countries, food losses and waste amount to roughly US$ 680 billion and half of that in developed countries. Apart from the purely financial aspects, loss or waste of food squander resources including water, land, energy, labor and needlessly produce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to global warming and climate change.
